CPSE Announces Newest Designees and Accredited Agencies

The Commissions of the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) met in Orlando this week during the CPSE 2010 Excellence Conference to act on applications for accredited agency status and for professional designations. For agencies and individuals alike, Commission action culminates a very comprehensive application and self assessment process, validated and verified by peer review.

The Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC) is pleased to announce they have conferred 32 new designees - 25 Chief Fire Officers (CFO), 4 Chief Medical Officers (CMO) and 3 Fire Officers (FO).

This brings the total number of designated officers to:

  • 680 CFOs
  • 54 CMOs
  • 12 FO

The Commission is also pleased to announce the release of Version 2.0 of the Fire Officer Designation candidate guide and application. This updated application reduces the number of technical competencies that a candidate needs to address from 20 to 12. Visit the CPSE website to learn more about the Fire Officer Designation or to download the latest version of the application.

The Commission on Fire Accreditation convened to consider seven peer team recommendations from peer assessment site visits to the agencies. Accredited Agency Status was approved for the following Agencies:

  • Asheville Fire Department, Asheville, NC
  • Aurora Fire Department, Aurora, CO
  • Southlake Fire Services, Southlake Texas
  • Charleston Air Force Base Fire Emergency Services, Charleston AFB, SC
  • Edmonton Fire Department, Edmonton, AB
