The Nashville (TN) Fire Department, an accredited agency, and the Brentwood (TN) Fire Department, a registered agency, are among the emergency services organizations in the Nashville metropolitan area responding to flood related events resulting from extreme rainfall. Deputy Chief Tim Lawson, spokesperson for the Nashville Fire Department, expressed fears that as the flood waters recede and search and rescue crews advance, more victims may be found. Brentwood Assistant Fire Chief and CFO Candidate Brian Goss reported, "The Metro Nashville area experienced record-setting rainfalls in the range of 13+ inches over the past 48 hours. Brentwood was one of the hardest hit areas with 16 inches since late Friday night. We are currently under a State of Emergency. Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen has signed Brentwood's application to be declared a Federal Disaster Area. We are recovering, but spread thin. We fought two working house fires Saturday night in waist-deep water and rescued 50-75 residents from homes and cars." Brentwood is working towards a strategic planning process facilitated by Rick Fagan and his team of technical advisors as the department prepares to become a CFAI applicant agency.
